'Hair loss' in Long Covid

It's safe to say that COVID-19 is a very common disease these days, and we're becoming increasingly familiar with it. Many people around us may have had it and recovered. Furthermore, recent research, a meta-analysis, reveals that hair loss after recovering from COVID-19 is more likely to occur faster than in the general population, with the condition potentially occurring within about two months. Hair loss continues for about two to three months.

The characteristics of hair loss in long COVID can be easily observed as follows:

1. Hair loss is more than normal, such as 200-300 strands or more per day.

2. Hair loss is distributed throughout the scalp, not in patches or clumps.

3. The scalp is in normal condition, not red, inflamed, or flaky.

In terms of treatment, hair loss from long COVID will resolve on its own within approximately 3-6 months. However, it's important to eat a balanced diet, get adequate rest, and avoid factors that may worsen hair loss. Vitamin supplements may also be chosen to nourish hair and promote regrowth.
